Babylon
Just venting some feelings and experimenting, the opposite of last poem, balance is cool, plus civilization feels a bit precarious now and all that.
Babylon
Babylon
The tower burns on a rotten foundation,
The words we worship, our own damnation,
A dream gone sour, the illusion of power,
A tower of lies, it sought the skies,
Fell short by infinity,
The only true gods are Entropy, and Gravity,
Murduk’s holy spire is no match for the fire,
Oh Babylon, how far you have fallen, and how far have you
come,
The dead walk the streets, with hungry holes for eyes,
Gaze upon the conflagration, the fall of a nation,
Gone is the glory, another false story,
Gnashing teeth, and brittle bones,
Endless hunger, and cold hard stones,
Once you burn away the sins there will be nothing left but ashes,
As lies poison the fodder for the masses,
Like ants we feed, like ants we die,
A mountain of bones can’t conquer the sky,
All gods fall, like crabs in a barrel,
Grasping claws, all wild and feral,
Farewell Babylon,
I’ll plant a tree when you are gone.
